October has been a tough month for my family. We said goodbye to a Foster Son that we had for a year. It's been devistating to our family. We've been recovering and holding on to the promise that God has a Good plan for our lives. I want to share something that a friend sent me... it's helped refocus me on God's purpose and plan through this rough patch.

First, there is a God and we are not Him.  His plans for us are always and forever for our good and His ultimate glory.

When my 3 year old son Joshua made it to the bottom of the giant sequoia tree, his eyes were wide as he looked up to the top branches, hanging hundreds of feet in the air.

With an excited shout, he said, "Dad! I'm gonna climb this tree!"

I laughed, and appreciated his ambition.

Before I became a Christian, I used to think I could live a 'good' life and eventually climb my way to heaven.
